Ideas to help you celebrate a theme
Decorate A theme can be expressed in many ways. It just has to enhance the basic reason for a party: Celebration! Many specific themes can grow out of a general concept.
A general theme can begin with a color scheme. For example, the theme for a patriotic celebration can begin with the colors of the flag. You can set it simply with table linens, candles and centerpieces. Get a little more elaborate with balloons, door wreaths, welcome mats and props. Or go all out with tents, lighting decorations and even window treatments.
Menu When planning a menu, as with every other aspect of the event, you put the pleasure of your guests first. You want the food to be appropriate to the theme of the event, delicious and presented just right. You also want to enjoy the event yourself.
Activities Sometimes, the event is the activity, as many of the theme ideas above would suggest. But often, an event needs something besides a setting, a menu and guests. For some events, games may enhance the enjoyment. Horseshoes, volleyball, softball and other sporting goods. "Moon walks" and other inflatable bounce toys. Casino equipment. Dunk tanks.
Event consultants know the local music scene, and can recommend just the right sound for your event: Top 40 DJ. String quarter. Rock band. Polka band. Or even a karaoke machine may enhance the enjoyment of your next event.
You may invite your guests to come in costume. You may want those who serve your guests dressed in costume.
